Tank Temperature Measurement

Honeywell’s Enraf® temperature gauging systems offer reliability, high measurement accuracy, minimal maintenance cost and easy installation for all types of liquid bulk terminals and storage facilities.

Honeywell’s Enraf® Tank Temperature Measurement portfolio ranges from single spot temperature probes to the advanced VITO Multiple Thermosensor Thermometers (MTT) for accurate temperature measurement. If required a water level probe can be integrated measuring the water level accurately at the bottom of the tank.

The VITO interface guarantees faultless communication with level gauges based on radar or servo technology.

Interfacing the tank gauge with the temperature measurement and even water level measurement reduces costs for wiring and installation.

Honeywell offers several types of temperature measurement instruments:

  • Spot Temperature Measurement is performed by probes directly connected to a level gauge and mounted at any desired location in the tank
  • Average Temperature Measurement is made possible by the VITO MRT which consists of multiple resistor elements, each with a different length. Depending on the liquid level measured by the level gauge, the longest element which is completely submerged in the liquid is selected to represent the average temperature of the stored product
  • Multiple Temperature Measurement is performed by the VITO LT which measures average product temperature and average gas temperature with a nine-element probe, while the VITO MTT goes a step further with a 16-element probe.

Honeywell’s temperature measurement portfolio exceeds the requirements of all in-tank measurement standards. The top end temperature gauging systems – VITO LT and VITO MTT – are suitable for custody transfer purposes in conformity with weights and measures regulations. In addition, the VITO MTT is fit for LNG storage.
